Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Now I lay me down to sleep,

I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

And if I should die before I awake,

I pray the popular attend my wake.

Charlotte Usher feels practically invisible at school, and then one day she really is invisible. Even worse: she's dead. And all because she choked on a gummy bear. But being dead doesn't stop Charlotte from wanting to be popular; it just makes her more creative about achieving her goal.

If you thought high school was a matter of life or death, wait till you see just how true that is. In this satirical, yet heartfelt novel, Hurley explores the invisibility we all feel at some times and the lengths we'll go to be seen.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Don't be misguided by the cover!!!!!! :(
The cover is awesome and the inside borders and headings to the chapters were beautiful. The little quotes and pictures gave off the: maybe this chapter will be better than the last. It defintely had me going, that this was going to be an excellent read. But no, i was wrong. In the beginning and middle, Charlotte was selfish to the point where it astonished me competley and I really coundn't understand her actions nor thoughts at some points. In the middle it was also slow and boring and annoying ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Imaginitive Story
Have you ever felt like you were a burden? As if you were being partnered up with someone and they don't show it, but you know that they don't want to be your partner. During the whole assignment the person just answers the question(s) on there own and ignores you the whole time. Don't you just feel like yelling out "Hey I'm still your partner and I'm not invisible!" but the truth is to him/her you are. Of course teenagers go through that everyday, but sometimes they feel invisible in a whole other way. ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Rest in Popularity
I was so excited to read this book as it seemed like exactly the kind of story that I would love; the social outcast finally realizes her dream of becoming popular...the only problem is, she's dead. Sounds great! The thing is, I could barely get past Charlotte's extreme selfishness. She put her needs and wants above everything and everyone. Although this is a lesson she had to learn before she could "move on," it was almost unbearable to watch her alienate her friends and crawl back to them when she needed ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - best book for teenaged girls
Tonya Hurley has captured the angst and the joy of the moment for girls between childhood and adulthood. Her metaphor is brilliant as is the language and story. This is a great gift.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Maybe not the worst book I've read...
But it's definitely up there on the list.

I liked the idea of the book. I also liked the cover and the pages. Yeah, I'll admit that it's what originally caught my attention. There was just no depth, in my opinion. I found myself waiting for something great to happen and nothing did. And the ending was a major disappointment. I might even call it a cop out.

I was expecting so much more from this book, especially since all the reviews I had read said it was great and even amazing. There's ... Read More
