From the bubbling synthesizers and insistent disco rhythms of "Tokyo Nights" to the shouty glam-rock swagger of the "Teen Titans Theme," this is exactly the kind of giddy Wings-influenced power-pop that producer Andy Sturmer once attempted to revive with his own band, Jellyfish. Never mind that the most of it is sung in Japanese. With ska beats percolating through "K2G" and 12-string Rickenbackers chiming on "Sayonara," this serves as the ideal follow-up to Puffy AmiYumi's 2002 sampler, An Illustrated History. Now it's time to devour them. --Aidin Vaziri Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Talented young artists create one awesome album!Puffy Amiyumi is/are awesome! I first heard of them on a TV show I used to watch when I was younger (Teen Titans if you must know) and always wanted a copy of one of their CDs. Their songs are a lot of fun and there's a great variety. They have catchy upbeat pop songs, cool rock songs, and a couple of nice ballads. And although it's apparent from reviews, editorials, and S. American, European, Chinese, etc. CD releases, that people all over the World have discovered this, it seems that many people here still haven't heard them (for the same reasons I never would have noticed/been drawn to them - VERY poor marketing mostly - & this band is about SOOO much more than the 2 very Cool & talented singers - who are in their 30s - Japanese "cute" marketing isn't reserved ... My favorite song of the album (and ever) is Tokyo Nights. I could listen to this one a hundred times in a row without getting bored. I adored K2G (whatever the title means) also, just not as much as Tokyo Nights. Other than that, Vacation and Invisible Tomorrow were good picks. I would seriously recommend this album, especially to fellow J-Pop fans. Puffy rocks!!!! Rating: - Puffy Rocks!!!!!Fun, upbeat, awesome CD...I was pleasantly surprised. It's Puffy Amiyumi, what more can I say? GO AND BUY THIS CD. Seriously. Nice Buy superhero comic book collectibles at the Superhero Mall! |
