Michael Keaton strikes just the right mood as the brooding "Dark Knight" of Gotham City; Kim Basinger plays Gotham's intrepid reporter Vicki Vale; and Jack Nicholson goes wild as the maniacal and scene-stealing Joker, who plots a takeover of the city with his lethal Smilex gas. Triumphant Oscar-winning production design by the late Anton Furst turns Batman into a visual feast, and Burton brilliantly establishes a darkly mythic approach to Batman's legacy. Danny Elfman's now-classic score propels the action with bold, muscular verve. --Jeff Shannon Description: After witnessing his parents brutal murder as a child, millionaire-philanthropist Bruce Wayne pledges his life to fighting crime disguised as Batman. His long-time nemesis, The Joker, has sinister plans for the citizens of Gotham City. His greed is matched by his obsession with photojournalist Vicki Vale. But Batman is there to counter the Joker's every move. With the fate of Gotham and Vicki in the balance, will good or evil prevail? Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Absolutely THE Best Batman MovieI can't imagine how this movie could get any better. Jack Nicholson is perfect as the joker. The story and characters are great. And the Batmobile looks like a batmobile, not a Hummer. A Hummer is NOT a batmobile. I love every like the Joker says. "Oh Theyre'll be a hot time in the old town tonight!",he sings as he electocutes a rival with a rigged joy buzzer! Just campy enough, just dark enough, perfect! Rating: - BatmanMichael Keaton was the best Batman ever. His acting ability of having good and dark side was simply amazing. And Jack need I say more!! Rating: - The Old Batman Movie but New Transfer!I've seen this 1989 version many times throughout the past 10 years and after 20 years the older Batman Movie still holds up well. Now, we all know about all these "new transfers" coming out to improve sound and picture quality from the original transfer to DVD. If your a fan of this 1989 Batman pitch the 1999 DVD version and get this one! I've of often said that Tim Burton's movies are indeed dark but the 1999 transfer is not just dark but very grainy compared to the sharp resolution ... Altamente recomendable Rating: - Batman 20th Anniversary Blu RayThey did an amazing job coverting it to blu ray escpeically since it's 21 yrs old. You can immediately tell the difference between the blu ray and dvd versions. If you have the dvd already give it to a friend and definitely buy the blu ray version. It only gets 4 stars because the 20th edition book that comes with it is not really worth spending the extra cash. Skip the 20th edition version and buy the regular blu ray. It's exactly the same with all the special features. Batman [UMD for PSP] Buy superhero comic book collectibles at the Superhero Mall! |
