Roy (Woody Harrelson) and Jessie (Emily Mortimer) are the perfect American couple traveling from Beijing to Moscow on the legendary Trans-Siberian Express train. The two strike a bond with another couple, Carlos (Eduardo Noriega) and Abby (Kate Mara), who are not exactly as they appear. Unwittingly, Roy and Jessie are caught in a web of drug trafficking and murderous deceit when all four become targets of ex-KGB detective Grinko's (Ben Kingsley) investigation.

Transsiberian's snowy setting is both beautiful and eerie, providing an evocative atmosphere that helps carry the viewer through the sometimes bumpy plot. At its core, Transsiberian is about the anxiety of being in a new world--be it a new country or a new phase of your life--and not knowing the rules, the fear of taking the wrong step and falling. The thriller plot is little more than a delivery system for that sensation. But really, all director Brad Anderson (The Machinist, Next Stop Wonderland) needed was Mortimer's limpid face; every tremor that crosses her pale skin reverberates through the camera. - Thrilling suspense movie in the vein of Hitchcok Thrillers are best when they personalize the fear of the protagonist(s) and allow the viewer to be immersed into their world, as frightening as that may be. In the case of TRANSSIBERIAN, this is accomplished admirably. Through close camera work, an excellent performance by Emily Mortimer as well as from the supporting cast, the director Brad Anderson creates a thriller with the same drive and suspense as Hitchcock's own train epic MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS.

- Great Suspense to the EndExcellent suspense-thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end. The cold and bleak Siberian landscape added to the overall mood. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

- Very good. Suspenseful; Not Predictable.While Woody Harelson is the household name in this movie, Emily Mortimer plays a great role as his wife and the focal of the story. Twists and turns keep it interesting. The Russian countryside produces a gorgeous winter setting. While not a big hit in the theaters, this sleeper is better suited for the home screen. Highly recommended as a rental.

- I Like SnowTranssiberian is a good movie, but I would only give it three, maybe three and a half stars. It is a suspenseful movie. I felt like I was in the train with the characters and I was feeling what they were feeling. As in a nightmare when you try to run from an unrelenting force, but your legs cant move quick enough, this movie lets you see when the characters are making terrible mistakes and you can't help them. - Could have been one of the years best picturesThe frigid Siberian tundra, you can freeze just watching this movie. Woody and his once wild wife are in Russia doing missionary work, for some reason. When they finish, they decide to tour Siberia by train, for some reason. The trains sleeper cars are not private and they can be bunking with serial killers, thiefs, or as it turns out, drug smugglers. The smuggler is French and sexy but, very greasy.
