Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Slow but fantastic Read
Great story and a wonderful addition to the DC Elseworlds titles. Can't give away too much due to the fact it's a great story, READ THIS BOOK!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Red Rain Delivers
The anticipation of "Red Rain" by us Batman fans was filled with excitement. The concept was intriguing, Dracula vs Batman and since graphic novels had arrived as a sophisticated medium since the mid-late 80s, I expected a great deal. I was somewhat disappointed, but over the years I have came to appreciate the story more. Moench, Jones, Jones III and Dorscheid collaboration is stunning. The artwork is quite compelling as bright colors have a dark quality because of such great shading and panel set-up. The contours of Batman show him as the pre-vampire. He is oddly different than everyone else, including vampires which makes him a visual study as well as a written one.

The tale at first is a little lackluster, but subsequent readings, probably aided along by the two sequels, shows a rich book that thrives as a first story in a trilogy. I do not know for sure, but because of its popularity, it spawned two sequels. In this case, the sequels improved and the reading of the first story is more satisfying. Others have reviewed the story here, but the story does show that Batman will paradoxically sacrifice himself to inbred evil to destroy evil - that good may triumph.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Batman sucked dry
I recently purchased and read the "Batman Vampire" series due to my intrigue of batman being turned into a vampire. I dimwittedly expected this comic to hold a great story with stunning artwork and I was completely let down. The story is about as cliché as any vampire story but now with the characters of batman thrown in. Having read many Batman comic books with plot, character development, mystery and enemy fight sequences I was very disappointed with the lack of anything resembling batman in this book.
The vampires are more like zombies, Dracula is presented terribly, and the worse is a scrawny vampire wearing a cape and cowl. Everything the batman empire ever built is destroyed in this story and I feel sucked dry of any...you get the point. Save your money and time by avoiding this crappy drawn and written comic. 2 stars for mindless gore
If you really want a good Batman series check out HUSH, KNIGHTFALL, and of course The Long Halloween.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Graphic SF Reader
Someone was going to do it sometime, Batman versus Dracula. Luckily, it was someone that did it reasonably well. Batman had fought vampires before, even one that was sneaky and kept his heart in a clock to prevent the usual stakes or crossbow bolt tricks working, but this one is a whole different story and feel to that sort of 70s thing.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Dark Batman tale thrills, but Dracula deserves better
"Batman & Dracula: Red Rain" offers a unique take on the Caped Crusader. More Dark Knight than Adam West camp, this tale plops Bruce Wayne into an apocalyptic Gotham (even more so than usual), as the very sky weeps tears of blood.

Wayne's dreams are tortured by haunting images of beautiful-yet-doomed women, but even more disturbing are the mysterious scars on his back when he awakens. Soon, as the title subtly hints, Batman is matching fists (and to a lesser extent, wits) with good old Dracula himself.

This is a very violent take on the Batman saga, with more emphasis spent on blood and carnage than Batman's detective skills. Several panes offer horrifying visions of Batman's world, and it's safe to say that this is a story for older Batman fanatics.

While the look of this pulp is fantastic, the story lacks a bit of heft. After all, we're talking about the leading comic hero taking on one of the leading villains in Western Civilization . . . and yet Dracula comes across as a rather pedestrian nasty than world-class. There's also an unsatisfying clank of deus ex machina in Batman's climactic fight against the Old Count Dracul, and is not worthy of either our hero or our villain.

Still, "Batman versus Dracula" is an entertaining, if brief tale, and is sure to thrill fans of Batman to their core. Worth a read, but not worthy of the pantheon of great Batman tales.
