 Absolute Kingdom Come

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A welcome addition to any library
I first purchased Kingom Come as individual volumes upon their first release. I rarely have time to go through my collection, so DC Absolute Editions and Marvel's Omnibus collections are great ways to enjoy classic stories right off the bookshelf. Kingdom Come is a perfect example of this. Alex Ross' art leaps off the page with boundless energy and enormous impact. This is arguably his best work, less "washed out" than his later work on Justice and more skilled than his earlier work on Marvels. The larger format and added material from the graphic novel make this volume a great piece to own, just as a piece of art. In my opinion Mark Waid's story is what makes this a great book. His intimate portayal of the "Big Three" and his inclusion of some of DC's lesser known properties, all told from a very human perspective, make this a lynchpin in comics. A must own.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Brilliant Piece of Work
It's complex yet very simple. The premise is wonderfully done. You don't even need to fully know the history of all the characters to easily follow along. For long time fans, it's a treat. I recommend to anyone.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Superhero Hype, if you ask me...
First Off: When buying a slipcased, oversized comic book you should always CHECK THE QUALITY. This book in particular came with a torn up slipcase.

I'm by no means a "comic book" guy. Everyone I know puts this book in the league of extraordinary comics (such as Watchmen, Dark Night Returns) but I cannot figure out why.

The story is rushed and sporadic (see: the building/filling of the prison). The reproduction of the artwork is spotty (as many have pointed out). The overall length is depressingly short. The comic doesn't take its time and develop; it makes a mad dash for the finish line, ignoring its initial themes in favor of a quick, predictable ending.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Gorgeous and powerful
The story is magnificent, the wide array of background characters and new characters provides a rich backdrop for the conflict, and the artwork is absolutely amazing.

A ground-breaking must-read for any fan of DC comics characters!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Outstanding story, story, and highly recommended
The hardcover Absolute Kingdom Come is one of the BEST hardcover comics I own. The story is excellent as well. If you want a comic that will boost your collection this is definitely one of the ones to choose!
