In association with Amazon.com - Ultimate punch!!!I recommend this movie to anyone who likes to laugh. Although it has lots of stupid or pointless humor, it has a good message in it too. Besides, who doesn't like to laugh??? Rating: - Too Legit To Quit - The Story of a Stuntman2007 brought us a handful of new screwball comedies ( Superbad, Knocked Up, Blades of Glory, Walk Hard...and the list goes on and on ) in the same genre as HOT ROD, and for whatever reason HOT ROD fell off to the way-side. Starring the lovable Andy Samberg, adorable Jorma Taccone, Isla Fisher, Bill Hader annnndd Danny McBride. (Not to mention hilarious roles played by Will Arnett and Chris Parnell.) Directed by Akiva Schaffer, the third member of 'The Lonely Island' comedy team (with Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone) HOT ROD somehow brings something more to the table then the rest. Maybe it is their close friendship that made it all come together so perfectly? Rod Kimble is a lovable Jack-of-all-trades who has a heart of gold in everything he does, even when it comes to his desire to beat his stepfather in order for his respect. There's nothing he can't accomplish with the help of his crew. (They like to party!) Scene after scene is hilarious. Kevin singing in his room to his stuffed animals, the grilled cheese versus taco death match, or jumping his bike straight into the community pool. The soundtrack also compliments the movie perfectly. Half of the tracks supplied by Europe in their 80's power-ballad-awesomeness, with some quotes sprinkled in. Not to mention 'You're the Voice' by John Farnham, which will always remind me of the classic scene in the film. Although it's humor is not for everyone, I suggest giving it a real try. If nothing more it will give you a new song to sing next time you're going on a date! "When you're going on a date, put on a shirt and you drive your bike to the date!" Oh Rod! Rating: - an acquired taste...Oscar! Oscar! Well, maybe not. This movie is really goofy, but I really liked it. I laughed the whole way through. Not sure if you'll like this or not? Check out some of the SNL Digital Shorts starring Andy Samberg. If you don't laugh, then pass. Favorite line: "You don't want none! I been drinking green tea all day! Rating: - not a good movie.......This movie was so stupid i couldn't stand to finish watching it. Don't waste your money.... Rating: - I don't know if it's incredibly funny or incredibly stupidThis movie is completely baffling, incredibly stupid, and side-splittingly hilarious at the same itme. Every stupid movie cliché is present (except the slow clap), and just when you get comfortable with the cinema norm, assuming and predicting the next scene, everything is flipped on its head, with all sorts of "Huh?"-moments throughout. To me it seems like a sequel to Napolean Dynamite (there's even a major character named Rico for goodness sakes!), with the same spastic action and filming techniques, where one scene has nothing to do with the other, but there is nonetheless comic cohesion. It's complete randomness that makes it enjoyable. Perhaps the greatest part of the movie is the not-so-subtle parody of Footloose, with Rod (Andy Samberg) imitating the "I'm so mad I gotta dance" scene. It's simply brilliant, and just as stupid as the original. The actual story is nearly inconsequential, as Rod - a life long stuntman in his father's mold - attempts to gain enough money with his crew, starring the beautiful Isla Fisher, to pay for his step-father's heart transplant. And the only reason he's raising the money, and risking his life on lethally dangerous stunts, is to nurse his condescending step-father back to health so that he can beat him up in a fist-fight, thereby earning respect and the honor of being called a man. I will be completely shocked if this doesn't turn into a cult classic. DVD : Hot Rod Get your Hot Rod Christmas presents today! |
